somebody’s getting old…

Today, the Porkchop turns 33, and while that’s not a milestone in number, it’s his first birthday since college when he didn’t have a job.

I’m not sure what that means he’s going to do today, but I suspect it will involve sleeping late and playing Madden NFL.

Sadly I had to come in to work, so I won’t get to be around to enjoy that 😛

But Izzie wanted me to pass along a message…

hometown glory

Adele, Hometown Glory… I am loving her. Sis, I think she’s right up your alley.

I first heard her a couple of months ago on Perez (yes, I read PerezHilton, I can’t help it, he’s funny) and was very irritated she only had stuff out in the UK.

But apparently someone got their ass in gear, because she has this single out in the US, and her other album is on the way. Very exciting. 😀

54

This incredibly hot lady is my momma, and today she turned 54. I called and woke her up at 7AM (because I am nice like that) and she informed me that it was OK, she had to get up with the puppy anyway. Who was cuddled with her in bed. My sister is out of town so my mom is playing grandma.

That’s one of the things I miss most about living far from home… free pet care!

Happy Birthday Mom!

laud the 1TB

We recently got a 1TB hard drive, and last night I finally used Leopard’s new Time Machine to back up my entire computer.

Then I deleted over 12 gigs of pictures, mail from my previous employer and downloads (mostly mail ones that I forgot existed in a separate folder… haha, oops).

It’s the first time in almost six months that I’ve had over four gigs of free space, and it’s lovely. I often work with large pictures, and I have been regularly receiving “your start up disk is almost full” messages, which requires one to start deleting maniacally so as to continue working.

It was a pain in the ass.

Now it is beautiful.

On another thought, my mother’s birthday is in a week and I have no ideas (she doesn’t either, argh). Anyone have a good suggestion?

go celtics!

For his birthday I got the Chop floor seats to the Celtics game this evening. Surprisingly, it was loads of fun and the game came down to the last seconds with the Celtics beating the Timberwolves 87-86.

The most interesting part of the evening, however, was the liquor purchasing policy. If you have a MA id and are over 21, you are fine. If you have an out-of-state id you have to be over 25. HOWEVER, if you are between 25 and 30, you have to have a second form of id to prove it.

I learned this the hard way, as it was my turn to get drinks and I had left my purse with Chop (taking my id and cash) and I had waited in line so long only to get turned away because I didn’t have a second form of id on me.

Wtf? Who made up this rule?

On the plus side, we went to Flemings for dinner and it was incredible.

Even nicer was coming home to find Chop had emails about jobs. 🙂

google macworld

Yet another awesome Google thing. Google, CALL ME!

Macworld debuted some awesome stuff… the new thin Macbook and the upgrade for the iPod Touch are my two favorites right now. Mail, Notes, etc., so nice. Exactly what I was missing. 🙂

good to be home

We got back from the land of ice and snow last night, after many nights of drinking and outright debauchery (in addition to all sorts of family time).

In other words, we are very, very glad to be home, lol.

The day we left, I had slipped on the stairs while rushing, and the bruise that has now formed right on/above my tailbone goes all the way across my back. It’s hurt like an SOB since last Saturday, and quite sadly, it is still incredibly painful.

But I still managed to un-decorate the house and tree last night during the Pats game, and to my great satisfaction, the tree is out, the decorations are gone and the presents have been put away. Granted, there is still some laundry left, and boxes to break down, but all in all, we are heading into January all clean. 🙂

miracle of miracles

We got up at 8, expecting to have no problems leaving town by 10AM.

Except we didn’t leave the house till 10:10, and we still had to go to the post office, the bank and put air in a tire.

The post office? Eight people in front of me. And when I got up there, they said they couldn’t help me, and the guy rolled his eyes. Nice.

Then there were a billion people at the coffee shop, everyone was driving below the speed limit and in front of me and we still hadn’t dropped the dog off.

I drove 90 the whole way (well, as much as I could), and managed to cover 70 miles in a little under an hour.

We parked and the tram over dropped us off at 12:30. Our flight? At 1:25.

And I am actually sitting here at the gate. WTF, you say?

No one at the checkin counter and no one, NO ONE, at the security checkpoint. Just us.

Our minds are boggled right now. From curb to gate, it took us 26 minutes. I have never gotten through an airport so quickly in my life.
