laud the 1TB

We recently got a 1TB hard drive, and last night I finally used Leopard’s new Time Machine to back up my entire computer.

Then I deleted over 12 gigs of pictures, mail from my previous employer and downloads (mostly mail ones that I forgot existed in a separate folder… haha, oops).

It’s the first time in almost six months that I’ve had over four gigs of free space, and it’s lovely. I often work with large pictures, and I have been regularly receiving “your start up disk is almost full” messages, which requires one to start deleting maniacally so as to continue working.

It was a pain in the ass.

Now it is beautiful.

On another thought, my mother’s birthday is in a week and I have no ideas (she doesn’t either, argh). Anyone have a good suggestion?

  5. Ron is right, method actors have such wonderful toys.

Though I am sad about it, he was a very, very talented actor and I really liked his movies.

The sad fact, though, is that this drug thing is deadly, and it doesn’t matter if you’re the ghetto street junkie or the movie star, it will kill you. The amount of money you have doesn’t make you immune.

It’s just blind, dumb luck that I’m still alive, because the harsh reality is that 1 in 10 addicts will make 1 year clean. 1 in 20 will make 5 years clean and in that five years, at least 4 of those 20 will die.

I’ve buried enough friends to know these numbers are true.

I think it’s great that Hollywood is pulling together to protect his family, but I think that by not talking about it, by sweeping it under the rug, that it is hiding something that needs to be in the public discussion.

  6. Sorry to hear about Chop’s job. I think you should send your mom flowers and buy her tickets to a play or show that she would like.
