this tree needs you

My mom decided to boycott a tree this year since I’m not coming home and so “we’ll just go over to your sister’s since she has two trees.”

I decided that was totally unacceptable, and playing on one year when my dad brought home the ugliest tree ever, I sent them this: This Tree Needs You.
pathetic_tree-thumb.jpg

They sent me a video message just now of Christmas music playing and this tiny little tree, in the same location as the tree usually is (and usually it’s 20 feet tall, so this tree looks hysterical).

One bad part about being in a relationship… trading off Christmas’ with family. :p

(Oh, and on a side note, Urban Outfitters used DHL to ship this to them and a) it took two weeks when it was supposed to take one and b) when I complained, they said they’d update the website and I don’t have a choice of shipping method. Ridiculous.)

snow, snow, snow

Buckets of snow came down yesterday around here, falling at a rate of about two inches per hour, and we ended up with around 10 to 12 inches.

Regina thinks it’s the greatest thing ever and loves to be outside.

And this is our snowman. 🙂

christmas at the new house

The house is clean, the tree is up and we are totally settled in the new place.

Not the best picture, lol, but that’s the tree, in front of the fireplace.

New house
Here’s the new place.

New fireplace..
Before the tree…

And where I am sitting right now

I don’t have any good upstairs pictures yet, and the office was a mess when I was taking pictures, full of Christmas boxes and wrapping paper, lol. And the kitchen is messy too, LOL. OK, we’re still cleaning.

national day of goodness

Guess what today is?

Guess, guess, guess!

Give up?

National Cotton Candy Day.

It’s a very important day, so go make some. Or if you don’t have a handy-dandy cotton candy machine, buy some.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My turkey’s been in the oven since 10, I’ve already had my coffee, watched the parade and gone through the Black Friday circulars… and now I am ready for a nap!

Hope everyone has plans for a great day of feasting and family!

happy halloween

Guess what I’m going to be for Halloween?

bday1.jpg

The Porkchop let me open one of my birthday presents early… rather, he wants me to open them all, but I am refusing! 😀

However, the hat box was calling me.

I have always wanted a Chineses bamboo peasant hat.

Now technically, we aren’t planning on going anywhere. We have our pumpkins carved and the candy ready, but we don’t plan to leave the house.

However, I do plan to dress up a little. 😀

Anyone else?

the perfect house

For the past week we’ve been scouring Craigslist and talking to realtors in neighboring towns.

Yesterday we saw another place with one realtor, in the town we wanted, and when he said the two places we’ve seen were the best, we knew we had to make a decision today.

When we got home, we decided to email the Cape Cod place and see if it was still available. It is, and she invited us to come out this morning.

Late last night a new house, in our current town (5 miles away), came up on Craigslist. Gourmet kitchen (everything is brand new), twice the size of our place now, separate laundry room, recently laid hardwood floors, OK with our pets, two stories, a gorgeous yard, fully refinished basement.. did I mention the gourmet kitchen? LOL, that’s my favorite part.

So we went there this morning, before we headed to the cape.

And oh my god, we found our house. It’s perfect and we want to move in yesterday.

The landlords are fantastic, an older couple, very reminiscent of our previous landlords, and they love us. They’ve been rebuilding this place for about a year, trying to make it really, really nice.

This place is worth at least $500 more per month than what they want for it (less than where we are now!), but they told us they purposely set the price low so they could get a younger couple in it.

We all got along great, and we’ve already filled out the application, so we’re just waiting to find out. They already told us that they were really comfortable with us and his wife even pishposhed the application process, lol, so hopefully we will know in the next few days.

I cannot wait to show pictures.. it’s such an incredible place. And the move will be incredibly easy.

Cross your fingers!
