hp computers and outsourcing

Does the title say enough? Mmhmm, probably not.

A couple of months ago my landlord bought herself a new HP Pavilion.

Last night, their cat threw up on the keyboard.

This morning, the hard drive.. well, I don’t have a clue what the hell happened to it, lol.

She called me this afternoon and I went downstairs. The screen looked like DOS—black, blinking cursor, etc. I kept getting a “Reboot disk failure” message and a “Symantec needs to run a such and such.”

After hitting F1 and F10 and getting no response, I called the 1 800 number. Fat lot of good that did. An hour with tech support in India and not only is the hard drive still kaput, but now there are people in India who hate me. Why? Well… OK, seriously, if you think you can understand a heavily-accented person who’s speed talking you through running a Self-Test on an unfamiliar computer, while the landlord’s husband is talking in heavily-accented English about stupid outsourcing, then FEEL FREE to come on over.

So yeah, long day.

I’m going drinking now. 🙂

mass spam

What the hell is going on with the mass spam?

I think I’ve deleted around 150 spam comments in the past two days and I swear I’m about to knock some damn heads.

I’m working on adding some plugins to make it stop, but shit if it isn’t annoying as hell.

exclamation points

I have punctuation issues.

When people send emails that are loaded with exclamation points, it bugs me. They’re like hyperactive bunnies copulating all over the damn page.

What’s even worse is when they’re in work correspondence, and the writer is using them as one would capitalize letters. As in “don’t do it!!!” for “DON’T DO IT…”

I just have no words for how balls-out irritating this is to me.

things that suck

A very good friend just called me—the drunk-dialer—and he was sober and less than an hour from my house back home in the East.

He took a cross-country trip (as he is moving to FL) and wanted to go to dinner and catch up.

I. am. still. on. West. Coast.

grr

1.7… and I don’t get to go home yet

Argh. One point bloody seven!

Every other number is fine, but since my bili is still up, I’m stuck. Mind you, I’m not surprised at all—I actually thought it’d be at 1.9, .2 less is better than expected.

Completely different note.. has anyone been watching this new show The Unit on CBS? It’s really good.

numbers day… 2.9

Well my bili only dropped .9, so unfortunately, it’s still not normal.

On the other hand, all of my other numbers have dropped out of the red.

My dad’s decided that I probably definitely have Gilbert’s, and this cold (and other stress, like work and not going home) will probably keep my bilirubin slightly elevated.

Lovely.

Now I get to go back to work and tell my boss that he can’t stress me out because I’ll turn yellow again. hehehe 😉
