you CAN keep some things private in a digital world

I am bored tonight, and what often happens when I am bored and the Chop is perfectly content (read: playing his PSP and watching a movie), I tend to page through the Internet (and I redesigned… you’ll probably need to refresh your browser a couple of times).

So this is yet another oddball post about Facebook. 😀

My godsister recently got back from a mission trip and I knew she’d post photos, so I headed there first. She had an awesome time, is planning to move there for two years in six months and came back sporting braids, a nose ring and a very hot boyfriend. I’m not entirely sure her mother is as thrilled by these things as me…. 😉

I noticed some other people who had updated their profiles, and being curious (read: bored out of my fucking mind), I decided to see what was up.

And can I just say, if you have a goddamn private-ish blog wherein you blog back-and-forth with your husband who you are temporarily distanced from due to work, do not, I REPEAT, do not post a link to it on your Facebook account.

Because sometimes, people get bored, and they look for something to do, and they see a blog link and think, oo, cool, a blog I’ve never read, and then they click to it and then THEY WANT TO CLAW OUT THEIR EYEBALLS.

That is all I’m saying. Just keep it to yourself. I don’t need to know. No one does, seriously.

the ants go marching 12 by 12

The ants are successfully driving me bananas. They finally appeared to be slowing yesterday, until we went into the kitchen for dinner and found the black/grey granite countertops literally teeming. WTF.

After much death and destruction was wrought, the Chop and I looked up household remedies, and I proceeded to shake half a jar of cinnamon all over the counters, using a brush to dust the walls and the bottoms of the cabinets.

I think the Chop thinks I’ve gone over the edge.

The landlord finally got back to us (they were out of town, figures) and so we’ll be calling their exterminator today. Fingers crossed that they come out by this afternoon, ’cause I’m not sure my liver can continue taking the copious amounts of alcohol that I require to forget about the ants long enough to sleep.

indiana jones redux is crap

Do not go see the new Indiana Jones movie. It is SO FREAKING BAD.

I’m not kidding. It’s slow, it starts and stops, the acting is bad, the whole script is bad and seriously, Indiana Jones and ALIENS?! Please.

Sorry. Probably spoiled it for you. Whatever though, it’s really bad. I’d rather see National Treasure 2.

watch bella, kill ants

I watched Bella last night (the Porkchop is on an all-basketball-all-the-time streak until the playoffs are over, so I must entertain myself away from the living room), and it’s seriously one of the greatest movies of the year. It reminds me of Once, in the sense that it’s an indie, it has an unconventional plot and ending and the music is incredible. In other words, get thee the DVD.

I just spent the entire morning deep cleaning the kitchen, in the hope that the ants will go away and never come back. I’ve put out traps, we’ve sprayed outside the house and still they come! I’m thinking of calling an exterminator.

D.C. layovers can suck my a**

I haven’t written here in awhile, as I’ve started blogging for work and contract jobs are coming in at a steady pace, rendering me completely incapable of forming coherent sentences after 12 hours working online.

But right now I’m stuck in goddamn Washington, DC, where I was supposed to have a one hour layover (it’s been a three hour layover), and so I figured, hell, why not, let’s rage on the Internet.

I flew home on Saturday night and Sunday morning surprised my mom for Mother’s Day. It was great fun, but I always forget that a) I hate flying, b) the flights are so damn long and c) layovers in DC always end badly.
