low tide

I love going on vacation. After a full day at the beach (low tide = toddler heaven), my friend J and I left the guys inside and went out for dessert. Oof. Vacation means I can eat really, really unhealthy things… like chocolate cake and brownies.

happy father’s day!

My Dad and the Porkchop’s Father’s Day has included cinnamon rolls, hummus, refried beans, Yorkshire pudding, Greek chicken and a couple of coffees each from Dunkin’ Donuts. I don’t think I’ve spent this much time in the kitchen since before the Peanut was born.

My feet hurt, my hands are dry from the cleaning and I literally sat down and opened my computer for the first time today about 30 minutes ago. But both of them are stuffed to the gills and happy as clams. Win-win for everybody!

party central

My Dad’s come down for a couple of nights to celebrate Father’s Day. So far I’ve made cinnamon rolls and we’ve gotten no work done… but the Peanut has been having a lot of fun.

how do we handle two?

The Peanut had an overnight play date with his best buddy… and oh boy, the Chop and I are not sure we’re prepared for two kids, lol. They were so fun, but by the time they went to bed, the Chop was too tired to work and I had to force myself to get some things done.

We’ve been discussing what happens once the Bean is born – due date January 25, 2013 – and at this point he’s either quitting his part time job, or we must find a nanny to come in three days a week. Or both, lol.

it’s not even Friday, sigh

I had an extremely WTF day that started with multiple WP sites having blank admin areas – including this one – and dying cron jobs. Lovely, I thought, what a way to begin.

Then the grocery store I drove 30 minutes too with a yelling baby was out of his milk (un-homogenized, blame my Dad), the Peanut refused to sit in the cart and had to be held throughout the store as I was shopping, then he yelled on the way home. We stopped at the park (some yelling, but mostly playing), then he yelled on the way home from the park. Then the Chop was giving him dinner and every time his cereal bowl was empty, he yelled some more. Triple his usual serving later, plus a cup of yogurt, he finally stopped yelling. Removing his main food source (milk) is going to be a daily struggle, sigh.

For more fun, I had a weird conversation with a client whose boss was upset I un-friended him on FB. I never talk to him for work (twice in two years), I never talk to him on FB (I had friended him to fix an issue on his business page) and I was cleaning out the clutter at the beginning of the month and thought NOTHING of removing him. Apparently he was flipping out about it, certain I had been offended or that I didn’t want to work with them anymore. Again I say, W.T.F.

What a day.

happy second!

Today was the Peanut’s best friend’s birthday. He decided he needed to be born a few weeks premature, so his birthday that should be in August is instead in June. It hasn’t matter, this kid has far and away exceeded all milestones and frankly thinking of him as a preemie always makes me shake my head. That kid? No, no way. He’s way too advanced to have been a preemie.

And he’s the Peanut’s buddy – as you can see.

hives? really?

Hives, apparently. And they’ve all but vanished overnight after Benadryl and an oatmeal bath. So very odd.

The Peanut had his first real appointment with the speech/feeding specialist this afternoon. It went well (unsurprising, as he charms everyone who walks in the door), but she did decide that weekly visits would be the most beneficial. The list of foods he’ll eat is quite small, he’s really uninterested in food in general and she’d love to get him using more words when he is hungry, etc. Party, sigh.

Immediately after she left the freezer repairman came (finally), replaced a broken compressor (of course) and woke up the Peanut (who had fallen asleep right before his therapist left). He was, sadly, bereft. And required sitting on Daddy’s lap while watching Sesame Street for half an hour.

It astounds me the amount of work I used to get done. Working for 10-15 hours a day, flying through jobs and designs… lately it seems I’m always playing catch up. We’re supposed to go on vacation next week and I have at least 60 hours of work I should do before we go. Not gonna happen.

oh just kill me now

At some point in the past week I either:

a) got poison ivy
b) got bit by sand fleas
c) got bit by chiggers or
d) got stung by stinging nettles

My legs are covered in huge welts, the itching is driving me mad and it’s hot, which means I don’t want to wear pants – pants that would prevent me from scratching.

W.t.f.

to the park

We took the Peanut to his favorite park – the final peg in an extremely eventful, baby-friendly weekend.

There was a petting zoo, a giant butterfly water fountain, a huge sand box and a triple-sized playground.

He was in heaven.
