when’s nap time?

When I was a kid, I distinctly remember wanting to sleep in on weekends. I also remember being dragged to my sister’s soccer games on Saturday mornings and church on Sundays, so while I desperately wanted to sleep in, I didn’t always get my wish.

For some reason I assumed that my kid would want to sleep in. Insane, I know. What was I thinking? There’s just SO MUCH to do before 8AM! Who needs sleep?!

new cousin!

I love one of the Peanut’s therapists – the feeding specialist (the one he has a crush on) – and I don’t love the other one. I don’t dislike her, I just don’t really like her. Is that weird? She, to me (and me only, the Chop would want me to add), just seems like she doesn’t really like her job. He claims I’m reading into things, particularly since she came at 845 this morning (!!!), but honestly, I don’t think so. I’m pretty good at cutting through people’s bullshit, and I just get a vibe off her.

The Chop’s youngest sister called this evening, loaded with baby questions. I embargoed a post about this back in March (and just realized I never published it). She’s a peach and we’re so excited that the Peanut gets a cousin near his age! Particularly since I’m not sure my sister is ever going to get crackin’ in that department.

aww, ok

The Peanut’s got “more” down – books, toys, games, food, etc., he says more when he wants more – which is fantastic.

Except he got one Yo Gabba Gabba episode this evening before bed and when it was over, he stood up, looked at me and asked for “more.” Unprompted.

So yeah, he’s watching a second episode now. I’m such a pushover.

more?

The Peanut had a date with his feeding therapist again today. I call it a date because he’s in love with her. He stood at the window saying “bye” for 10 minutes after she left, lol.

He’s progressed a lot – is eating new foods and trying out new words – but what shocked us the most is that he picked up saying “more” (sign language and the word) in the hour she was here. We’ve been working on it for a few weeks, but for some reason it all clicked today.

I love days like that. 🙂

itch, itch, itch

I had my first OBGYN appointment for the Bean today. I stupidly took a mid-morning appointment, which meant I didn’t go in until almost 45 minutes after my appointment time. I never get that – is it that hard to stay on time? She didn’t have any emergencies – and she’s really nice and chatty – her staff should schedule people for more time. Argh.

They drew blood for LFTs and we discussed where I’m at with itching and nausea… then she pulled out my records from the Peanut’s pregnancy and said it looked about the same and that I should remember the itching will get worse in the third trimester. But better in the second!

Sigh.

already 10 degrees too hot

Where’s supposed to have a heat wave starting on Friday. Kill me now. I’m already baking due to the Bean and the Peanut runs hot in general – all of us are going to be dying by Saturday morning.

My mom saw the forecast and called to let me know she’s not happy that it gets hot out here. Sigh. Every other day there’s another reason she doesn’t want to move – but hello, you’re moving, so learn to deal. The Chop and I want the moving nonsense over already, and not just because we’d like the occasional overnight babysitter, lol.

heat, heat go away.

The admin of this site has been mysteriously showing up blank – and everything I post via email has been stuck in some sort of weird limbo. I’ve once again replaced all the files with new, but I’m at a loss as to why it keeps happening. One of our work sites has had a similar problem, but I fixed it once and boom, good as new. This site has shut down twice now – wtf?

It’s hot again today – ugh. The Chop let me sleep, thank god, and now the Peanut and I are hiding out in the cooler bedroom. Heat waves I can definitely do without.

good god it’s hot

We headed home early, unable to deal with another night of lost sleep. The lack of sleep and extreme heat (hello 90+ degrees) caused my itching to get out of control. The Peanut’s friend was up on and off from 1-5 and the Peanut was up at 530 – but completely unhappy about it. We all packed and made it out of town by 11 – the Peanut crashing in the car before we left town.

The heat wave was worse inland and our house is a sweatbox. The Chop brought up the a/c for our room and I’ve barely left it since. Ugh. Summer. Why are you mean to pregnant people??

little buddies

The boys have a lot of fun playing together – the best part about this trip.

Even when they get up at dawn. Every. day.

too early.

The Peanut got up at the crack-ass of dawn, a problem he seems to have when we’re not at our house. We went down to the beach – an amazing benefit of the place, the beach was 150 yards from the front door – and played down there until everyone else woke up.

He wasn’t too keen on walking back, but fortunately the Chop was willing to come down and carry him. 🙂
