April 20th, 2007the cat who thinks she’s a squirrel
My littlest cat Ellie thinks she is a squirrel. I don’t know if it’s the likeness of the bushy tail or what, but this cat thinks that squirrels are her folk.
We installed a bird feeder, staked to the ground, outside the front window last weekend.
And the squirrels have come. And the cat is sooo happy.
When I was a kid, there were squirrels who would come up to our kitchen door and eat cheetos and peanut butter out of our hands. My sister and I loved it, and we named a cute one who came often Ringer, a nod to the white ring of fur that circled his left eye.
Sadly, one summer our neighbors across the street decided that there were too many squirrels and started a “catch and release” program with traps. (We know, they killed them. Don’t rub it in.)
Ringer never came back.
I think I’ll hold off on naming Ellie’s new friend for now.
Ringer bit mom and then they had to catch him. Once they did animal control took him to check if he had rabies. So it’s not that he didn’t come back it was that his head was cut off. I am thinking that they just didn’t tell you that part. 🙂

I cant believe that you are here praising these bloody sky rats when I am having a full out WAR with the squirrels in my yard! They have ripped down my two suet feeders and ate the entire cakes in one sitting. Then to top it all off… they ripped down my bird feeder and when I woke the other morning there were…. i kid you not…. 13 squirrels having a squirrel buffet at my new bird feeder.
The leader of the army is a fat son of a bitch, I mean seriously, he is the size of a woodchuck! He started this whole war… he ripped down the first suet feeder and sat there and ate the ENTIRE cake… in ONE sitting… I watched him… so I went outside to try and spook him away… didnt work… i threw sticks at him… keep stuffing his face…. threw rocks at him…. sat there in his fat ass squirrel munching pose and stared me down. So screw squirrels…. and seagulls and pigeons while I am at it.

i don’t think she thinks she’s a squirrel so much that she thinks they are chewy treats.
