In the Boston Globe this morning.. State widens teaching of abstinence and the subtitle, “Romney gives faith group sex ed grant”— take off the last two words and it reads way better. 😉
I had a lovely phone call from one of my good friends yesterday. One who I know is more intelligent than I, who paid more attention in school, who had a higher GPA, etc. Why am I bringing this up, you ask?
Because she called to ask if she might be pregnant. (Mind you, she had already called Planned Parenthood.)
Here’s the kicker—she’s still a virgin.
So what does abstinence teach? Nothing. And it prevents the students from getting accurate information.
Hence, abstinence doesn’t work.
Please tell me you friend is only twelve. Otherwise, if she grew up in this country and wasn’t locked in a box, how the fuck can’t she know any better? If she is as smart as you say, I’m sure she’s heard of these things we have called BOOKS!
