March 9th, 2006horrifying things to do at midnight
Check an old email account, find an email from an old high school detailing their recent admittance to the weird world of MySpace, click on the link and subsequently find scads of high school friends (all still living in this area) on MySpace.
Oh. dear. sweet. misery.
Somehow, in the several years we’ve been out of high school, they’ve:
- become swingers.
- had their little brother/sister get married.
- forgotten how to a) spell and b) use proper grammar.
- become raging alcoholics.
And what have I concluded from this little jaunt down memory landfill? That none of them have grown up and that I’m lucky as hell I moved out of the area.
I might be scarred from this experience.
I’d handle it so much better if I could down some vodka. That always helps. 😉

see… it’s like a train wreck you can’t help but be facinated by…
and you made fun of me for checking out myspace. luckily the people i hung out with in high school can spell, even if they are living in the same area 8 years since graduation…

haha.. I’m on myspace…
I didn’t enter my hometown or high school though. I’m not even curious about those people.

Whores.
Comment by Grampa — March 9, 2006 @ 10:56 am
Definitely a train wreck.. ::shudder::
Here’s the thing, I didn’t join, I just perused. In the one person’s friends section, I came across five old high school friends, so then I checked out their page, etc. Frightening.
I’m assuming you’re calling the MySpace people whores, yes G? Or do I have to come and debilitate you somehow?
Comment by the insider — March 9, 2006 @ 11:29 am
I have friends in local bands. I pretty much just joined to keep informed as to when and where they were all playing on any given weekend (the whores were merely a delightful surprise)… And btw, Gramps… I noticed you had a myspace site too.. Granted it was long since abandoned. I tried to add you as a friend, but I don’t think you’ve been back…
Comment by HarleyWriter — March 9, 2006 @ 11:53 am
ROTFL… nice. And Gramps has a MySpace account?! Miracle of miracles… and where is that, pray tell? 😉
Comment by the insider — March 9, 2006 @ 12:26 pm
Yeah, I just checked and it’s still there… Sadly, he only has one friend and he hasn’t logged in since 8/23/2004…
Comment by HarleyWriter — March 9, 2006 @ 12:52 pm
Fuck you.
Fuck all of you.
Comment by Grampa — March 9, 2006 @ 1:56 pm

Give me her phone number, Wendy. I’ll make the call.
Once you buy a prize, it’s your’s to keep.
Comment by Grampa — March 10, 2006 @ 11:42 am
ROTFL… have fun with that. Tape it, would ya? 😉
Grampa… what exactly are you saying? Who’s the bought prize in that scenario buddy?
Comment by the insider — March 10, 2006 @ 11:58 am
Perhaps I should have said, Caveat Emptor.
Comment by Grampa — March 10, 2006 @ 12:00 pm
Uh huh, sure. 😛
Comment by the insider — March 10, 2006 @ 12:03 pm
Basically, it’s like this. Anytime, anyone, ever, gives me their mother’s phone number and has me call them, then they get whatever they get.
You never know, it might be a moment of inspired brilliance, or it could be something like, “Yeah, Wendy, she’s a nice girl. English is cool. You should let them fuck on your kitchen table. Oh, and by the way, one day the rest of the world is going to wise up and realize that Joe Stalin was a fuck’n visionary.”
Comment by Grampa — March 10, 2006 @ 12:19 pm
He’s gone off his rocker today, so I would suggest not giving him any way of being able to contact your parents. Ever.
In my case, I’m completely and utterly screwed.
Comment by the insider — March 10, 2006 @ 12:24 pm
was that a euphemism?
…
don’t answer that.
…
they don’t have a kitchen table. oh and my dad still randomly reads insiders blog… so *waves to daddy* don’t worry, we’ll sanitize the island afterwards…
Comment by wendykat — March 10, 2006 @ 12:36 pm
LOL… um.
And “hi there” wendy’s dad… Grampa’s a bit.. eccentric. hehe
Comment by the insider — March 10, 2006 @ 12:40 pm
You have no idea.
But, Stalin, a visionary.
Comment by Grampa — March 10, 2006 @ 12:57 pm
Oy.
Comment by the insider — March 10, 2006 @ 1:10 pm

Oh, yeah, me going to Hell. That’s news.
Comment by Grampa — March 10, 2006 @ 1:52 pm
I didn’t say it was news, I was explaining it to the PEOPLE.
😛
Comment by the insider — March 10, 2006 @ 2:02 pm
That’s good. I believe that the People (or the Lakota, if you’re into that whole Native American central plains language family thing) should be kept informed.
