morning

It’s remarkable to me that, from 5,000 miles away, the Man can still keep me up past four in the morning.

How, you ask?

Books people, through books. Two boxes full of remarkable little morsels of brilliance—and one in particular, Lucifer’s Hammer. Quite honestly, it’s the most disturbing, and genuinely distressing, book I’ve read in ages—and it was published in ’85. Earth has been basically obliterated by a comet, and a few small pockets of people remain—it only goes into real detail regarding a stronghold in California. It’s a captivating read.

And even though I know I have to be up for work in less than four hours, my head is filled with wondering what would really happened if a comet hit us…

And why on Earth the tenant above me is up and making breakfast at 4:30AM. Sheesh, he’s loud.

  1. Oh dear. This smacks of me having to field questions such as, “Mum, are you absolutely sure we don’t have to be preparing for a comet smashing into the earth?”

    Hehe!

  5. All of you people need to get a fan, or an air purifier (a loud one), then you can sleep through anything.

    Sometimes even the alarm.

  10. met some friends for some drinks, then went bowling (stupid bowling not REAL bowling) then went to a bar where we ended up getting caught in a rush of salsa dancing and this dude had this awesome instrument called a cajon its like a square drum you sit on… so neat, then we got some 2:45am joneses for falafel. finally i got home and called the boy who promptly and sternly told me to go to bed since it was ridiculous-o-clock in the morning. oh also i sniffed some blow off an underage cheerleaders belly shortly after i clubbed some baby seals with a swiss colony beef log. you know. the usual weekend hum drum.

  12. Mmmhmmm.. falafel. I almost called the man at 4AM, but I settled for blogging, lol.

Help me out with the stupid bowling vs. the REAL bowling…

And are you still buzzing missy? lol 🙂

Isn’t G a peach? All concerned about the baby seals…

  13. it’s not a waste if you eat the beef log after it’s been tenderized upon the thick skulls of baby seals…

candlepin(stupid) vs regular bowling(REAL)… feel free to insert joke/remark that i simply like to handle bigger balls.

  14. Now that’s a woman after my own heart.

After we finish the beef log, we can have filet of baby seal.

    Seal Veal! Mmmmmm.

  17. I remember reading “Lucifer’s Hammer” years ago. I also remember really liking it because, as you said, it truly is a captivating read.

  18. i hear seal is very fatty though. it’d make my skin all lovely and my hair all glossy… but it’d make a mess of my hips and thighs… though if you ask English i’m already a fat ugly cow and i should be thankful and grateful that he loves me because no one else would have me… hehehe. he’s sweet.

and insider i’m sooo not deeply disturbed… only slightly psycho…

  19. Pallavi.. I can see as how that would be disturbing, lol.

Kevin—It was really good. It freaked me out, but it made me think—and I’d say that’s the mark of a captivating read. 🙂

Wendy… um. hehe.. he sounds like such a gem.
