October 2nd, 2005fall memories
There are few things in life as liberating as being on the open road. Clear, sunny skies, gorgeous vistas stretched out ahead and not a soul to be seen for miles… it makes you feel as if you’re the only one alive in the world.
I took a short road trip today, and my god it made me ache. I love being on the road. I crave that kind of freedom and adventure, and short trips only serve to rip open an oozing wound.
I passed a Burlington Coat Factory on my way. The last time I was in a BCF, I was in Virginia. I had stopped to buy an umbrella so I could take pictures at a local battlefield without the rain damaging my camera. It was chilly and overcast and the VA sniper was still taking potshots at people pumping gas. That was two years ago and it felt like yesterday.
UPDATE: Apparently that was three years ago and I have no sense of time. Yeah.

Time passes so quickly and it’s the saddest thing.
But, I am absolutely sure that the coming months and years will provide innumerable experiences that sometime in the future you’ll look back upon and fondly remember, too. The rich tapestry of life never ceases to get richer :).

Insider – not to be annoying but your road trip and the sniper attacks and all that was actually three years ago.
Sorry – I only know that because it was at the same time I was prancing around Italy and Europe and I cringe when I realize just how long ago it truly was.
Sigh*

I have no clue about time either. I look at movies which were made in say, 1998, and think about how recent that movie is. Then I remember it’s nearly the end of 2005 already!

Seriously, I had to read that a second and I went, “1998 wasn’t that long ago… oh my god. It was seven years ago!”
Shit. Time flies like crazy.
