watching premiere of Ghost Whisperer

Don’t ask. Tired, but I can’t sleep. (And NUMB3RS premieres tonight, so I need to stay awake—that is an incredible show, with a phenomenal cast and brilliant writing.)

OK, so here’s the thing. This is Jennifer Love Hewitt’s new show, and I’m sorry to all those who love her (Andy :P), but who thought this chick could act? I mean damn.

No acting ability people, nada. At least not in this genre. Was she good in Party of Five? I was young; I don’t freaking remember. I thought Saved by the Bell was the best show on TV.

And now the damn thing just got scary. Shit. Supernatural crap freaks me out.. watching this was such a bad plan.

And 30 minutes later…. the writing is crap. I mean absolute trite. So I don’t entirely blame the bad acting.

  1. Any word that has letters and numbers in it just makes the bile rise in the back of my throat. I just start to think about getting my hands around the neck of some MySpace fucker and squeezing.

So, it may be a wonderful show, excellent cast with great writing, but I don’t think that I can get past the title.

    Have fun with that.

  2. Grampa you are just going to have to deal. I guarantee that if you watch the show, you’ll love it. There’s a brilliant mathematician who helps his brother (FBI) solve crimes.

    Illogical, perhaps, but incredibly good.

So you’ll just have to get past the title and be a grownup about this.

    😛

  4. Wendy, you crack me up. 🙂

I love stories in all forms—excellent writing on TV, in my opinion, is as good as excellent writing in books. 🙂

  5. Well I have 500+ channels from my Satellite Dish and can you believe it I can’t find a single thing worth watching.

What was that Bruce Spingsteen song again…

  7. Graham—that totally sucks dude. Move back to the States.. if we can do one thing right, it’s TV. 😉

    Blasphemer? Moi? Pardon?

    Blasphemer.

  9. Ah, yes, I thought that ticked you off. 🙂

Not blasphemy at all. Some really talented people write for TV—note how I said excellent writing on TV is as good—and they should be repected for their talent.

Same with those who right for film.

Obviously, books would win in a contest, hands down, without fail.. but you have to be nice to the ugly brother, right? 🙂

  10. Nope. Screw the ugly brother. Hacks.

  11. I’m telling Harley you called him a hack.

  12. Oh yes. US TV rocks. I think the problem I have is with the amount of channels as opposed to the quality on them. Sometimes I think too much choice is no choice at all. In the UK we use to have 4 channels then 5. My mind was opened to so much more cool stuff that way.

For some reason I thought you were, like, (hold breath and hope I don’t get slapped) well into your thirties (quick duck).

Saved by the Bell – I guess not. It’s because u seem so mature me thinks :).

  13. OK, a) lol, it says twentysomething up there… and b) you don’t need to duck. I look forward to being in my thirties. And forties. And eighties. I think it’s going to be fun heckling cute boys in their twenties… hell, it’s fun now. 😉

And truthfully, too many channels would drive me nuts. I probably watch in the vicinity of 10-15. The rest are fodder. 🙂

  14. So it does in your profile. I must pay closer attention. You’re right, growing old is something to look forward to. Although I think if I heckle girls in their twenties when I’m eighty it won’t be perceived in quite the same way. No harm in trying though.

  15. Good point. 🙂

Shouldn’t you be asleep? It’s late over there. 🙂

  17. You moved ages ago, lol. I’m a night owl, too, though. 🙂

    Missing Poquito Mas, huh?

    Comment by the insider — September 23, 2005 @ 9:53 pm

  18. Yeah. My tummy yearns for my favorite Mexican and Italian Restaurants. My lungs yearn for the pack of cigarettes I have stored far away out of sight in the kitchen drawer but that’s another story.

What college did you go to in LA?

    Comment by Graham — September 23, 2005 @ 9:57 pm

  19. Aww.. missing the sticks? Go grab a DC. 😉

I went to APU in Azusa, but only for a little while.

  24. How disappointing. I hate it when I emotionally invest in a new show and it sucks ass!

Not that I don’t have a life or anything…. much!

God, I wish ER would start again, I miss Dr Kovac!
