September 9th, 2005katrina—a photo journal
I found this through goldenfiddle.
It’s 197 pictures that chronicle Hurricane Katrina, from boarded up windows in the French Quarter to the immediate aftermath of broken windows and downed trees to the floodwaters rising to him stealing a truck and fleeing the city. It’s phenomenal and to me, it explains why so many people stayed as long as they did.

don’t lose faith: maybe this will help restore it: as a social worker, my office, along with every other corresponding chld welfare office in Mass, has been asked to send out teams of social worker to assess all of these familyies needs that are coming into our local military bases: Otis airforce base, camp edwards etc. we have had an overwhelming response of people willing to work there for 2 week periods and be rediculously stressed out when they come back to work for all that they have missed. That restores my faith to know how many people are willing to alter everything in their schedules to help. =) Hope it does the same for you.
