just thinking

My parents are coming to visit in a few weeks—a little under five, to be exact. Every time my mom calls, she tells me how excited she is and how she just can’t wait. They’ll be here for 10 days. The first four we’re planning to spend in Pennsylvania for a festival that my mom has wanted to go to for years. She grew up there and we haven’t been back in two years, since my grandmother passed away. We three are going to drive there. Together. In my Jeep. Eight hours one way. Yep.

My dad and I have been on a couple of road trips together, and it went remarkably well, so I’m not too concerned. It’s the actual being at my apartment—together, staying here 24/7—that freaks me out a little. I think Goose and I will get much cozier in October. 🙂

Anyway, in other news, the O.C. premiered tonight. It was good, but not what I expected. And they added a new character and I am not a fan at all. Reunion then debuted… it seems kinda interesting, but mainly TV shows like these two drive me nuts. Why, you ask? Because while suspense is fabulous and all, I’d really prefer to just hear the whole story. This is why I love books—and get irritated by series’ of books. I can sit and read an entire book in just a couple of hours, and I will. Every time. But if there is a series of books, I will hold off until the entire series is written and published, that way I can seamlessly flow from one to the next. (Or rather, I try to. But if it’s a good story—TV or book—I just can’t help myself.)

Yes, I have issues. What can I say? I like to know everything and I’m all about instant gratification.

  7. Ten days with your parents, you should be concerned… 🙂
I never understood how people could watch 24 on TV and wait for a whole week for each episode.

  9. Augustus—Thanks for jinxing. You’re a jackass, too. 😛 And no, Grampa is barely in his thirties.. he’s most definitely NOT my elder.

Anne—I know! That show is way to interesting to wait 24 weeks for it to play out. And quit with the concerned.. I still harbor a tenuous hope that it will all be fine.

Me.. Oh.my.god. I would give my left arm to see my mom hitchhiking! LOL. Nah, she is tiny and fit and looks far younger than her age.

It will be OK people. Quit freaking me out. 😛

  10. I’m only joking. 4 days went well with mine, and 4 days with mine is like 10 with anybody else’s. It’ll all be fine. There. Reassured? 😉

  12. I’m sure that it will work out fine. As long as you don’t want to smoke or drink or do anything else inappropriate.

  14. Hey it could be worse, your uncle could be coming to stay.

I’m blessedly assured he would want to talk to you about your sexual sins that have driven you away from Jesus.

  15. ROTFL. Oh, without a doubt, without a doubt.

There’d probably be some sort of intervention. Gag. And I’d end up sleeping off the alcohol poisoning at the office. 😛

  16. I really identify with the waiting for a series to be finished before reading one of the books. I’m impatient that way too!
