August 28th, 2005pure nerd
So I snatched this from her, who, btw, is a very entertaining read.
Anyway, I knew I was a nerd… BUT, I did not know I was a pure nerd. Now that’s a bumper sticker I’d like to have. ๐
Pure Nerd
65 % Nerd, 26% Geek, 17% DorkFor The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the “dork.” No-longer. Being smart isn’t as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
You scored higher than 71% on nerdiness
You scored higher than 26% on geekosity
You scored higher than 14% on dork points
Aren’t you folks lucky?! You know a pure nerd. ๐

Tell me something I didnt already know ๐
But this is why I love you…

Hey, I didn’t write the test.
For the record, my parents both have dorkiness in them.
HOwever, the gene that controls your dork percentage has multiple alleles with many phenotypes. Unlike other trait expression dork/nerd/geek phenotype expression is not mutually exlusive. So homozygous expression of one phenotype in parents is not always a clear indication of the expected outcome.
If simple mendelian genetics can’t figure it out, It’s unlikely a simple test could. ๐

Oh, you are WAY nerdier than I. Just wanted to state that for the record.

Does anyone else think it’s disturbing that most of the readers of this blog are pure nerds (or completely normal)? What, do we run in a pack or something?
