We took the Peanut to get new shoes today. He went up a size and a half, and when we stood him up after putting the new ones on, he smiled hugely.
Ah now he gives me a smile, said the sales lady, it must feel nice to not have to curl your toes!
Parenting fail.
Finish each day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Chop and I watched Beginners tonight, and aside from being incredibly depressed by how closely Christopher Plummer’s character’s death mirrored my grandmother’s, it was a great movie.
Randomly what we mostly took away from it? Goran Visnjic is very tall; Ewan McGregor has a large head when it’s placed next to Mélanie Laurent’s; and Christopher Plummer is oddly far shorter than we expected. They really do a great job with perspectives in movies – also, Visnjic apparently used to hunch on ER so the other actors would appear taller.
A friend posted a link to this on Facebook tonight, and it was so funny I kept reading. For an hour. Crap.

Tagline: You used to be fun. Now you have a baby.
We dropped Netflix last year. I’d like to say it was because of the whole Quikster nonsense and the price gauging, but really it was that we finally realized we weren’t using it. Perhaps having a movie on the DVD player for eight months was a good indicator, lol.
We haven’t missed it – we have cable, HBO and a baby – but recently we’ve started renting from Redbox. Between the hiatus and the debates, a lot of our regular shows are on repeat and since we work until midnight most nights, we need the entertainment. It’s a good deal – new movies for a $1 – and we have three boxes within eight minutes of the house.
We watched 50/50 tonight – which made me cry like a baby (kids – yes a 20ish guy is a kid – getting cancer = sobs) – and it was excellent.
I love audiobooks written/read by comedians. A regular book via audiobook is nowhere near as fun as listening to a comedian – Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Sarah Vowell and my newest favorite, Mindy Kaling.
“Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” is awesomely funny.

the bean
About a year ago now I purchased the Green Bean, aka a YogiBo. It’s basically the biggest and best bean bag chair you’ve ever sat in. It easily holds three, is great for baby trust falls and is the perfect place to sit while playing on the floor. Or watching YouTube videos on Mommy’s phone.

It’s been a party the last couple of days. Short naps, tears and not our usual happy-go-lucky baby. Fortunately the Peanut has three molars and two front bottom teeth that have broken through… but there is one extremely swollen gum housing his last molar.
Today was a better morning.

But by the middle of the day, the pain had returned.

Amazingly I think being out in the cold helped… plus he got to watch cars close up, his most favorite thing to do.

We finally got some winter snow, about five inches that the Peanut could really care less about. He loves going outside (mainly so he can get closer to watching cars), but he did not enjoy a) his new snow boots, b) his snow suit coat and c) our suggestions that he “walk” in the snow. He went down on his butt a couple of times, but it was when he fell hands first and got snow inside his coat that he decided it was bullshit.
