but I get to sleep on a new mattress tonight

I am tired.

I am cranky.

I abhor PCs.

I despise working late.

And I want a damn cookie.

thank you trashcan stealer

For leaving it on my front porch.

That was nice.

You must read my blog and be afraid of the others. Damn straight they’re scary and were going to kick your ass.

Don’t do it again, or I’ll track you down and beat you with a pole.

I know where to get one now.

ahh thursday

The coworker has a dentist appointment this morning, so I’m here in the office, all alone.. trying to figure out how to turn on the heat. It’s only 69º, but it’s cold. At least to me.

But it’s Thursday—yay! The day before Friday, and, around here (college town), the first night of the heavy drinking. Not that I plan to indulge in the heavy drinking, mind you. No, no.. I’m going to go home at a reasonable hour and sleep. Ahhhh.. sleep. 🙂

Lately, a very lovely British man has been sending me music. 🙂 🙂 Which makes me very happy, as I am a music whore. Has everybody but me heard of The Shins? Is this a British band that never surfaced in the States?

Pink Bullets and New Slang are by The Shins.

Of course, then Tuesday was new music day at iTunes (yes, my favorite day of the week for that reason only), and Lori McKenna has just put out a new CD. Who, you ask, is Lori McKenna? One of the most brilliant folk writers/singers I’ve ever heard. (And I’ve heard many.)

One Man and If You Ask are two of her new songs. She’s phenomenal.

Oh, I meant to ask.. when I put up music, should I put it all in one file? Does anyone care? Andre puts it into one track, basically, which I kinda like.

woodsmoke and sweet grass

I met the single gal today. We need to have a blogmeet people, because we are good times. 🙂 Love the dog, too, sg. 🙂 And thanks for the advice. (I love that smart people read this blog and then give me smart advice.. even though I probably won’t take it.)

Anyway, on the drive home, I kept smelling woodsmoke, interspersed with sweet grass. I love fall. I love the leaves, I love the chilly air, I love drinking cocoa and I just love the smell of woodsmoke and sweet grass.

Fall is here people. Yay. 🙂

And that also means the start of the new season of TV shows… another yay. Lost was on last nice—fabulous show, excellent cast and excellent writing and the premiere was incredible. CSI premieres tonight, so I’m all psyched about that. And the OC is new today as well.

Ah, fall. Oh how I adore thee. 🙂

I adore other things too. Typically not people, but lately I’ve started to like people more. Huh. Crazy. Mainly you people ’cause you’re just damn interesting. And then this guy who’s also damn interesting.. met him because of you people and your brilliant blogs. Kinda getting attached to him, too. But I won’t bore you with the details.

Blogs are good, that’s about it. 🙂

drinking, carousing and carrying on

So I am slightly inebriated. Yes, I have partaken of the wine. And the vodka. Large quantities of the vodka… and sushi. Ahhhh… sushi. What a wonderful, fabulous, nummy (Shut up, it’s my word. Deal.) meal.

Day 1 went pretty well. There were a few glitches, but alas, not too bad.

We went to dinner (at 8PM, following cocktail hour where I got a job offer… 🙂 ) with a friend of the coworker. Sushi and vodka… yes, there was overwhelming joy. Much celebration. Dancing in the streets.

Then there was pool playing and we were soundly beat. Annihilated even. Sad, sad, sad.

Now we are back at the hotel, checking the presentations for tomorrow. Which, in all actuality, is probably not so good, as I am looking at this computer screen with one eye shut… and the coworker is mumbling behind me, incoherently, about a presentation.

But you must be impressed that I can still spell. While wasted.

I should get paid for that.

happy dance, happy dance

I have gone over 24 hours without blogging. It sucked. There was so much I wanted to blog about today and everything.. 🙁 But nooo, I made the bright decision a few months back to block our main office’s ISP.. just in case somehow the Boss accidentally stumbled upon it. And of course, to make matters worse, something is still wrong with the FTP I use and so I couldn’t even unblock it for a few hours.

So sad. 🙁

No matter. I am back now, that is all that matters. And I have so much to share! The Boss was not crazy today. (Remember, he normally is.) Woohoo! He did not yell, he did not blame us for anything, AND he said we deserved a couch (we’ve been mentioning how helpful a couch would be in the office..)! So we get to buy a couch now—on the Boss. 🙂 🙂 🙂

::::Happy Dance, Happy Dance::::

And to really make our day… we ate at a restaurant of OUR choosing! Falalalalalalalala…. fabulous little Thai restaurant that made kickass curry and Thai iced coffee.

So, in conclusion, apparently the Boss got laid.

To his wife: I salute you. Thank you for taking one for the team. 😉

::::I had someone email and ask why I haven’t commented on the hurricane and the devastation. To be honest, I cannot even form words to express what I would want to say. It’s catastrophic and horrifying and thousands have died and New Orleans, a town I loved, is gone. There has been many, many writers who have expressed what I cannot. He is one. Slate also has great coverage, This article in particular. ::::::
