It’s always entertaining and I like helping the Peanut know her. She’s currently emptying their garage and attic of stuff, and so has taken to showing me boxes of my stuff over the computer. Artwork, schoolwork, stuffed animals… and today, all the cool hats I made in grade school.

And she modeled them. 🙂

finish each day https://theinsideofmylife.com/2012/01/finish-each-day/ Sun, 29 Jan 2012 04:57:22 +0000 http://theinsideofmylife.com/?p=1584 Finish each day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

deliciously awake https://theinsideofmylife.com/2012/01/deliciously-awake/ Tue, 17 Jan 2012 01:44:53 +0000 http://theinsideofmylife.com/?p=1535 For over two years I’ve only had decaf coffee in the house. First I was pregnant, then I was nursing and then the smallest bit of caffeine made me insane. I’d still drink a small pot of coffee every morning or so, but it was always decaffeinated.

Over the weekend I finally broke down and bought regular coffee… and wow, I have really missed it. Even though the Chop and I regularly visit Starbucks, there’s nothing like having caffeine at the crack of dawn when the Peanut wants to play. I almost feel bad remembering how many mornings I’d “play” with him before the Chop woke up, trying desperately to keep my eyes open and my brain working.

We have a pretty good schedule worked out – we trade off waking up with him every morning. Some days that means 5AM, some days it’s 730AM – the only constant is that after two hours, we switch. The Chop usually heads straight back to bed when his shift is over, but about 50% of the time I stay awake and start work. The Peanut normally goes down for his nap 3-4 hours after he woke up, so I can usually knock out a four hour stretch. Then when he wakes up, the Chop takes over and I go between working and play for the rest of the day.

We’re pretty lucky.

merry, merry, merry https://theinsideofmylife.com/2010/12/merry-merry-merry/ Sat, 25 Dec 2010 15:48:34 +0000 http://theinsideofmylife.com/?p=1352

Christmas snoozing

The Chop and I brought the Peanut out to visit my parents this Christmas… it was the one thing my mom wanted, and after all her help this year, there was no way we could say no. It went surprisingly well — he slept on the plane and we’ve been sleeping 6-9 hours at a stretch as my parents and sister take turns with the Peanut at night. Magical Christmas, truly.

Sadly the little guy is teething. It started at 10 weeks, and now he is working on tooth #2 and #3. It’s crazy for a baby this little to teethe—there aren’t even teethers small enough to fit into his mouth. He’s pretty advanced for his age, but having teeth already? Crazy. So although he’s having a lovely Christmas, he’s still sad sack. 🙁 Poor little guy.

Five lovely, sunny days full of awesome food, gorgeous views and happy, delicious-smelling gays. I love me some P-town. 🙂

I found it on Boing Boing.

oh olympics, how i love thee https://theinsideofmylife.com/2010/02/oh-olympics-how-i-love-thee/ https://theinsideofmylife.com/2010/02/oh-olympics-how-i-love-thee/#comments Sun, 28 Feb 2010 23:26:22 +0000 http://theinsideofmylife.com/?p=1141 So normally I’m not a fan of sporting events, but the Olympics are another matter altogether… I love the Olympics. I will watch them non-stop, every sport, every game and enjoy every minute of it.

We just finished watching the US/Canada gold medal hockey game and now I am bummed. Good job Canada, but damn if I wasn’t completely sad looking at the faces of the US team. Dejection is the only word to describe it. Miller the goalkeeper was so good and yet the puck slipped in—and oh, his posture, so crushed.

Incidentally the announcers are all talking about how this will hopefully make hockey more popular nationwide, and I hate to burst their bubble, but I doubt it. It was awesome, certainly, but it was for a gold medal… in the Olympics. This shit only comes along every four years!

Was definitely an awesome couple of weeks. 🙂

band of brothers https://theinsideofmylife.com/2010/02/band-of-brothers/ https://theinsideofmylife.com/2010/02/band-of-brothers/#comments Mon, 22 Feb 2010 18:27:21 +0000 http://theinsideofmylife.com/?p=1134 The Chop received the DVD set of Band of Brothers for his birthday, and we spent most of the weekend watching them and there are two things that really stand out for me:

1) Damian Lewis needs a TV show, desperately. We LOVED him on Life—watched it religiously and were bummed when it was canceled—and he can seriously anchor any TV show. Look at Nathan Fillion—Castle would not still be on the air without him. Lewis is brilliant in BoB.

2) War is hell and neither of us are cut out to be in the military. Particularly any war in a cold climate, where the unit gets stuck in Belgium, in the winter. Most definitely, no.

If you haven’t seen BoB, rent it or buy it or borrow it, it’s amazing.

ah, mahwage https://theinsideofmylife.com/2010/02/ah-mahwage/ https://theinsideofmylife.com/2010/02/ah-mahwage/#comments Tue, 16 Feb 2010 18:50:34 +0000 http://theinsideofmylife.com/?p=1130 Once again it is snowing… and miraculously this time, people are not freaking out. Although I kinda wish they were because I would’ve enjoyed staying home today. Figures, right? Damn 2-6 inches (seriously, that’s the closest they can get?).

The Chop and I have been having a very leisurely-ish life of late. Bumming around the house, sleeping in on the weekends, watching a lot of movies—not leaving the couch being the central theme here—and honestly, if this is what marriage is, marriage is easy. Marriage is exactly like living together, except now your mom doesn’t make sad sighing noises at you over the phone and you don’t have to wonder who’s going to entertain you when you’re 70.

It’s the little things.
