go see juno!

Have you seen Juno? If not, you should. It’s awesome. And not just because I love Allison Janey. The writing is really witty and while not completely believable, the characters are hysterical.

The Wii came today (Christmas present) and Chop and I spent the whole day staring at the box, trying to work. Amazingly it’s still unopened, as he has sports shows we “watch” starting at 5.

It feels like spring here.. is anyone else having that problem? The weather was a high of 56 degrees, the sun was shining and a freaking fly somehow got in the house. A fly. In January. The weather is messed up.

10 degrees of ice and snow

So yes, the box did come yesterday, FINALLY. And so far, according to my mom, nothing appears broken.

Chop and I made it safely to the land of ice and snow, and right now we are sitting in bed and outside the windows the world is totally white, covered in snow and very pretty. I’d estimate there’s around two feet of snow on the ground and it’s still falling. And did I mention it’s 10 degrees?

oh the weather outside is frightful

Saturday the Chop and I went shopping to get some last minute groceries and return a broken item to Target.. I won’t bore you with the details, but let’s just say Target less than two weeks before Christmas? Not good. No, no, no. The traffic, the insanity, the mounds of snow and ice… nightmare.

When we got home it was dark (winter sucks that way), and I was on the phone with a friend. Somehow, during the phone call, the insane dog desperately needing to pee and all the bags, we forgot to shut Chop’s trunk. Yeah. And it snowed and rain and the wind blew and the next morning it was bad, very, very bad.

I spent yesterday baking, which is typically a family activity and that made me a little sad, but feeding the burnt cookies (new oven, whoops) to a very willing dog made it a little better. 🙂 Chop delivered some to the landlord and some to our nice new neighbors who brought us fudge the other evening, and I am taking a plate to work… one that will be devoured in seconds, knowing them.

Today he went to NYC for work for four days. Of course the Amtrak station parking lot was full, so he ended up parking a mile away, hoofing it, missing the train and then learning his car might be towed. It’s a stick-shift and so I can’t get a taxi there, because I couldn’t drive it home, lol, and I can’t seem to find anyone to go with me, so that sucks. But fortunately he just had his year-end review and he’s getting a raise (again, the bastard… my job sucks), so he can just pay to get it out, lol.

My best friend sent me presents off Amazon this year (so smart) and so now I can watch Annie and Mary Poppins while Chop is gone. Yay for me. 🙂

We actually opened presents this weekend (it’s just easier when we are going out of town), and one of my surprise gifts was a Nintendo DS… does anyone have any good game recommendations? We have Brain Age, and I want Monopoly, lol, but there are SO many more and I need help!

first post from the touch

The Chop and I bought each other iPod Touches for Christmas.. and we aren’t big on waiting.

So this is my first post from the Touch. And it’s a) awesome and b) easy to type on.

Woot.

unlimited cocktail time

I love my parents. I love them deeply and I am SO glad they were here to help us move and clean and put up curtains and fix broken things.

But I am also SO glad they have gone to NYC for a conference and won’t be coming back here for awhile.

The house is awesome, so much has gotten done and we couldn’t have accomplished half as much as we did without them, but my dear god, I haven’t gotten laid in over a week and there is only so many times my mom can “suggest” a maid come twice a month before I begin to get a complex.

The Chop has now taken to saying “we are SO filthy” and the poor dog is afraid to drink water.. I swear to you, my mom was trying to wipe her muzzle every time to prevent drips on the new, perfectly refinished hardwood floors.

And if you have a dog, you know that ain’t gonna happen.

two dudes

There’s a show on the Food Network called Two Dudes Catering. It’s not a highbrow cooking show, but they do interesting food preparations and so I am entertained by it.

The Porkchop, on the other hand, can’t stand it. And it’s not because of the food they make or that they’re weird (although that bugs him a little), it’s because of their hair.

And the fact that they don’t wear hairnets when they cook.

And I get that, because when you look like this:

You should pin that mane back under a net when you’re cooking.

Otherwise, it’s just not right.

too cold.

When I woke up this morning it was 31 degrees. I sat down on the big chair to work, and all three animals decided to join me and steal my body warmth. The bitches.

The dog still hasn’t left, but once the furnace had kicked on for awhile, the cats abandoned me for their respective boxes. The hoochies.

I am almost done with my Christmas shopping.. the only ones I have left is my bitch sister and her family.. WHO HAVEN’T PROVIDED ME WITH A LIST. And you will NOT get presents if I do not get some actual ideas. 😛 😛

Anywho, the landlord came and took her table this weekend, so we’re down to the final stretch. Next weekend we paint and then a week from Thursday we start the move. It’s about damn time.

paint questions

I finally got my invite for a Chumby and I’m really excited. My plan is to set it up with widgets and give it to my technology-hating mom for Christmas, lol.

And my boss gave me Leopard (the new Mac OS) and it is very, very cool. Some bits I don’t like, but in general it’s amazing, just like Panther was when it came out.

My parents are coming to help us move in December, but before then, I have to come up with paint colors for the two bedrooms.. and the Chop doesn’t care, so I’m totally on my own here.

So what do you like?

ch-ch-ch changes

Boston.com changed their website today. And apparently Amazon.com has changed theirs as well.

This does not make me happy. Boston’s is weird now, more like NYTimes.com, but with different tiered navigation; Amazon’s is generally OK.

I’m not a big fan of change.

Our new landlord emailed us a list of information about our new house, and while I’m very excited to move, there are two interesting changes that have me a bit stressed.

Our heat is oil.. oil, which is up to $3 a gallon. Granted, each room has a separate heating unit with it’s own thermostat, but still.. it’s a bigger place.

And we have a septic tank.. no more city sewer. Technically I hear this is OK, but according to what I’ve read, we have to be far more careful with running the washer and dishwasher at the same time, with what gets flushed and with using water in general. It’s making me a little nervous.

Anyone have any experience with either of these? Is the oil bill going to kill us? Is a septic tank really that scary?

idk, i’m a vamp?

You Are A Vampire

You have a real thirst for bliss, and you consider yourself a true hedonist.
And you’re not afraid to walk alone in life, if it means getting what you truly crave.
You truly enjoy entrancing people. Not to mention the ensuing pleasures of the flesh.
Your tastes have been called decadent and bizarre. You usually give in to your temptations, no matter how primal

Your greatest power: Your flawless ability to seduce and charm

Your greatest weakness: Human flesh

You play well with: Werewolves
