The Peanut is picking up some of the mannerisms of the Porkchop, something I find hilarious – and adorable. I can see them in 10 years, sitting the same way, telling jokes the same way and most definitely, still walking the same way.

Yesterday was my 1,000th post, something I didn’t realize until I logged in today. Pretty crazy.
One of the Peanut’s favorite things to do is climb on the couch, and then run back and forth. His absolute favorite thing is when I tell him, very sternly, to SIT. He giggles maniacally and continues his sprinting. I sit him down, he laughs, gets back up, and we repeat the whole thing. Fifteen or twenty times, lol.

Today was the first time I picked up the Peanut to give him a hug and he said, “Mama, Mama” and hugged me back. He’s said “mama” before, but I’m never sure he knows it’s my name. And he’s a great little hugger, but the combination of mama and a hug just bowled me over.
We took the Peanut down to hang with friends this afternoon, two adorable little boys who love to play and are highly entertaining. The Porkchop ended up pushing the boys in cars all around the yard, then spinning them until they fell over dizzy (toddlers walking into each other = hilarious).
He informed me on the way home that he was ready to try for another. 😉

The terrible twos are soon to be upon us, but the Peanut has decided to just go ahead and start being crazy now. His favorite tantrum position is to sit down, and then bend his entire upper body forward until his face is touching the ground. It’d be cute if it wasn’t accompanied by wailing, lol.
He likes to line up his toys on the edge of the tub during bath time, and when one fell (out of order, he prefers to dunk them one at a time), he promptly proceeded to assume his tantrum position. Except he was in a tub full of water. So down he goes, dunking his face and a couple inches of hair, and up he pops, shocked and dripping. I, of course, am laughing hysterically… THISCLOSE to peeing on the bathroom floor. He then starts sobbing and wants out of the tub (because now his favorite place has hurt his feelings), so I soap and rinse him and pull him out. But now he’s mad at me because I laughed at him, so he marches/baby runs out of the bathroom naked, loudly vocalizing how much the world hates him.
This was after a day where he threw roughly 20 tantrums, took a 30 minute nap (as opposed to his normal two hours) and generally railed against the entire house.
Fun. Times.
The Peanut decided to cap off his bruised head (ugh, it goes down his nose and slightly affects his eye area) with a split lip, which he got by walking into some bars at the playground. Ugh.

There are a few children’s book authors that we absolutely adore – two in particular whose books we purchase whenever we see them, Sandra Boynton and Nancy Tillman. Both authors illustrate beautifully and write with a cadence that makes memorization quick and easy, something useful for us, as we can easily calm the Peanut down by reciting books.
The Peanut’s gotten so good at knowing which book is which, that if I start reciting one, he goes to the pile and pulls it out. Boynton’s books are fun and funny, with lots of animal sounds and weird songs to sing; Tillman’s books are sweet and dear, easily eliciting a tear or two on certain pages.
As I was reading the latest one we purchased to the Peanut this morning, It’s Time to Sleep, My Love, I wondered if she ever sold prints of the illustrations.
And of course, she does.

The rate at which our son is growing is mind boggling to me. This time last year he had only just started sleeping through the night and eating something other than milk. Now he’s running everywhere and climbing on everything.
He’s of the opinion that everything is better when one is on the table. Standing, looking out the window, playing with cars and reading – it’s all more fun with a little extra height.
