After numerous up and downs, we let the Peanut sleep in our bed. And let me just say, the people who do that regularly? Insane. He kicks in his sleep, he likes to sleep horizontal across the bed, he likes to burrow under part of you (and then be offended when you move) and he’s quite good at pushing us both to the very edge of the bed.

With that and the baby, I’ve felt like death all day. I took a nap at 1 and didn’t get up until almost 4. And I still feel like I’m sleepwalking.

The squirrel monkey climbed out of his crib at 3AM (crying the whole time, naturally) and slept between us in bed. Sigh. He’s obviously been lulling us into feeling secure about his sleep habits, as he’s slept, by himself, from 7 to (roughly) 7 since he was six months old. This nonsense is bananas.

We moved the Peanut’s crib into the only room with an a/c unit today, which made us feel much better about letting him cry it out. Crying it out in a hot room = no bueno.

Unfortunately it appears he’s actually a monkey and climbed out of his crib in under 10 minutes. To say we were shocked is an understatement.

Tomorrow we’re shopping for a toddler bed, sigh.

My extremely pregnant friend Fee and I went to see Magic Mike tonight. It was… interesting. We laughed hysterically for the first hour – and I do mean hysterically – but the last part went dark, slightly Tarantino-esque and Pettyfer and Tatum don’t really have the chops for that. And honestly, I’d have preferred laughing hysterically throughout the entire movie.

On the plus side, Joe Manganiello? Wow. Yeah, hehe.

When I was a kid, I distinctly remember wanting to sleep in on weekends. I also remember being dragged to my sister’s soccer games on Saturday mornings and church on Sundays, so while I desperately wanted to sleep in, I didn’t always get my wish.

For some reason I assumed that my kid would want to sleep in. Insane, I know. What was I thinking? There’s just SO MUCH to do before 8AM! Who needs sleep?!

The Peanut’s got “more” down – books, toys, games, food, etc., he says more when he wants more – which is fantastic.

Except he got one Yo Gabba Gabba episode this evening before bed and when it was over, he stood up, looked at me and asked for “more.” Unprompted.

So yeah, he’s watching a second episode now. I’m such a pushover.

already 10 degrees too hot

Where’s supposed to have a heat wave starting on Friday. Kill me now. I’m already baking due to the Bean and the Peanut runs hot in general – all of us are going to be dying by Saturday morning.

My mom saw the forecast and called to let me know she’s not happy that it gets hot out here. Sigh. Every other day there’s another reason she doesn’t want to move – but hello, you’re moving, so learn to deal. The Chop and I want the moving nonsense over already, and not just because we’d like the occasional overnight babysitter, lol.

The Peanut got up at the crack-ass of dawn, a problem he seems to have when we’re not at our house. We went down to the beach – an amazing benefit of the place, the beach was 150 yards from the front door – and played down there until everyone else woke up.

He wasn’t too keen on walking back, but fortunately the Chop was willing to come down and carry him.

My Dad and the Porkchop’s Father’s Day has included cinnamon rolls, hummus, refried beans, Yorkshire pudding, Greek chicken and a couple of coffees each from Dunkin’ Donuts. I don’t think I’ve spent this much time in the kitchen since before the Peanut was born.

My feet hurt, my hands are dry from the cleaning and I literally sat down and opened my computer for the first time today about 30 minutes ago. But both of them are stuffed to the gills and happy as clams. Win-win for everybody!
