Yeah, no duh. But this clip of a dog (in a newsroom in Arcata, CA, right before their recent earthquake) taking off right before the earth start moving is pretty cool.
I love how he noses the ground. I image his internal dialogue was along the lines of… just chillin’ in the office, dum de dum, hmm, *sniff* *sniff* oh shit, that’s no good *runs away very fast*.
I’d love to know where he ended up. Some secret doggie lair? Standing tiptoe in a doorframe?
This morning NPR did a profile of Ryan Seacrest, and it proved my longstanding belief that the guy works like a dog. He’s up at 4AM six days a week. He hosts three radio shows. He does the red carpet at every major awards show. He hosts American Idol. Oh, and he produces all of those as well. And two shows for the E! Network.
Granted I don’t listen to his radio shows, I don’t watch the award shows and god knows Keeping Up with the Kardashians might make me kill someone, but you have got to be impressed with the guy for knowing what he wants and going after it 110%.
The argument on NPR was that he’s taking over for Dick Clark and eventually for Larry King… he’s going to have his hands in all the pies. In investment terms, the guy knows how to diversify!
My common suggestion to clients who have blogs is to sit down on a Sunday and crank out five for the week. One hour, I say, two at the most. It’ll be so easy. Then you just set them up to go and don’t worry about it until the next week.
My former boss, who is now my client, is notorious for never blogging. Getting her to blog is painful and an ongoing argument, but she has decided she will blog every day for 30 days, as one of her New Year’s resolutions. This I am happy about, but receiving nine blog posts on Sunday night, with the last three having numerous spelling errors and the final one missing the last half of a sentence makes me think that she did them while drinking.
Sigh.
I managed to coerce the Chop into a West Wing marathon, so while I’m slightly sad that I’m working away on a new project on a Sunday night… at least I get to watch my absolute favorite show of all time while I’m doing that. 🙂
It really takes very little to make me happy. Today it was pancakes! (new weekend tradition… the Chop is widening his cooking repertoire. Grilled cheese, pancakes, we’re getting there.), a latte and waking up at noon.
We went and saw Sherlock Holmes today. I really, really wanted to love it. I love Robert Downey, Jr., I adore Rachel McAdams (especially as a brunette) and Jude Law was perfectly cast. But for some reason a) I had a rough time paying attention to it—ie, my mind would wander and that’s never a good sign and b) the close ups of the punching and ribs breaking made me gag.
Chop says I just don’t like Guy Ritchie-directed movies, and that may be true, but overall I feel like the plot was missing something… and in my opinion, it’s a good beginning. Batman Begins was an awesome movie, and one of the reasons it caught my attention was it showed how it all began. Now why couldn’t they do that with Sherlock Holmes?
It was like being dropped into a room full of people who knew each other, had their little inside jokes and quirks and history, and we weren’t really privy to them. Bleh.
Does anyone else have issues doing laundry? I feel like our laundry pile NEVER goes down and I’m constantly triaging eight or more loads at a time. OK, I need this tomorrow… Chop needs these for work… where the hell are my jeans… etc.
And honestly, doing laundry drives me crazy. I’m pretty sure it’s the waiting while things are washing and drying—nine times out of ten I forget about it and remember two days later.
That drives my mom completely nuts. 🙂
I go into my new office twice a week, and for the past two weeks, the same sign as been outside at CVS…
“Get your HINI shots here!”
Now I know they mean H1N1, but because they use the “i” instead, I snicker every time I drive by, lol.
I’m not the biggest fan of the dentist—mainly because when I was a kid I lived in fear of any situation where I would have to get a shot—but my mom was quite insistent her kids went to the dentist every six months like clockwork. The shot fear kept me from ever getting a cavity.
Until I got old, and apparently slacked off.
1) I blame the fact that I haven’t gone to the dentist in a year. We moved and I had to cancel my appointment and then the wedding, etc., so I might’ve slightly let it lapse.
2) I blame the Chop, who hasn’t gone to the dentist in YEARS. I think a little of his laissez faire attitude has rubbed off on me.
3) I blame my non-fear of needles. After 2006, they just aren’t that scary anymore, lol.
Today I had to have two cavities filled, one on top and one on bottom—both, fortunately, on the same side. Amazingly the novacaine shot wasn’t that bad… a prick, a little uncomfortable, but overall easy pie.
The irritating numbness, however, drove me completely batshit for five hours.
It’s cold today. It’s going to be cold tomorrow. Then it’ll be colder and colder until I’m very, very sad. And cold.
We now have a garage, which is awesome and has prevented me from falling on ice and my car windows from freezing shut.
However, I call BS on it (and garages in general) not being heated. It still takes just as long for my car to heat up and I can still see my breath as I make the (admittedly minuscule, but shut it!) trek from the door.
One thing I love about what I do is that I get to meet a lot of different people in a lot of different industries. Today I got a new client—a friend had recommended me to someone—and she was in dire need of some help. After an hour on the phone, I received the nicest email… “I think you are SO AMAZING! Thank you so much for being ‘you.’ ”
Yeah, I know. Talk about validation. 😀
In other news, it’s my dad’s 58th birthday today. 🙂
My Dad, back in the day.

My Dad, at my wedding.

Isn’t he adorable?
