oh boy, when it rains, it pours

The Chop is starting to get sick, every single client we have has decided to send buckets of work before we go out of town (TODAY—three days before we leave) and Ireland is currently facing a huge worker’s strike.

We picked SUCH an awesome time to go on vacation. Sigh.

completely random

If you’re looking for incredibly BBQ and you’re in New England, head up to northern Maine and you’ll find the most amazing pit BBQ stand in the country run by a transplanted southerner.

The Chop wants to move here solely for the food, LOL.

plans, plans, plans

Yesterday my cat Ellie decided to kamikaze off the banister at the top of the stairwell. She fell with a shirt that was on the railing, and managed to twist her front leg. She was limping and her leg looked odd, so off we rushed to the vet. After waiting 30 minutes, and a 30 minute exam where she cried, hissed and struggled, the vet determined that she has a bad sprain. She determined that I am a bad mommy and should be avoided at all costs. Dandy.

I brought her back home, packed in a flurry, didn’t finish half the work I was planning too and left the house an hour behind.

We’re in Maine this weekend, checking out the venue, meeting a caterer and the photographer and hoping to solidify most of the plans for the wedding. We’ll see how well that goes, lol.

sometimes it’s hard to blog

Five days ago a very good friend of mine lost her husband. And I’ve been trying to figure out how to blog about it, but it’s been incredibly hard. I adore her—we’ve worked together for three years—and she adored her husband. They never had kids, were together for over 40 years and had the kind of marriage I hope the Chop and I have.

The funeral was this morning. Taps was played at the grave (he served in the Air Force) and she broke down hard when the Honor Guard handed her the flag. He’d been sick for a while—we exchanged stories of home health care issue (my Nana required that level of care the last few years of her life)—but she thought he had a few more years in him.

Sometimes it’s hard to blog.

way too many sports

Earlier today we celebrated Chop’s birthday by going to a Celtics game. It’s now become his default gift: floor seats to one game and I go with him. 😛 It’s surprisingly fun, although today KG was out so that was a bummer. I did, however, get nailed in the head by a shirt thrown from one of the “get pumped up” people. Chop was too busy saving his beer to save my head (so mean) and I was too busy protecting my shoes from getting covered in soda (the teenagers next to us were thisclose to knocking over their drinks on my feet while jumping for the shirts).

And now we just finished watching the Super Bowl.

It’s totally been his day.

I did get really awesome sushi though, so to each his own.
