Grimace.. I see what you mean. Granted, I was already pissed off that day and I did take it out on her eventually, but to be honest, I really was just trying to give her a tip. Which, granted, was not at all well received.

Ugh, at this point, I’m wondering if she’s even going to send the items. (All together, they came up to around $90.)

Neither one of you is particularly right, neither is particularly wrong. I don’t know how much the actual item cost, so I don’t know how bad it would be for her to eat an eight dollar loss.

She fucked up, to be sure. She assumed that it was going to your Paypal-approved address, which is just plain stupid. For that reason alone, she should at least meet you halfway.

I used to do customer service for an e-commerce site, and we had similar issues to this. Her refunding the entire invoice and creating a new one makes sense to me, and I don’t see anything wrong with her coming to you and saying, “Look, I messed up and put in the wrong ZIP code. I’ll fix it, but it’ll completely change the shipping costs.”

Then, if you wanted to dispute having to pay the additional costs, that’s a separate issue.

At this e-commerce site, I was responsible for the customer service emails, so I’ve seen this exact scenario played out a hundred times. Email is, quite possibly, the single worst imaginable way to conduct a business transaction or conversation. At some point, she should have asked for your number, picked up the phone, and called you. I can almost guarantee that this would have been cleared up in five minutes, with both parties reasonably pleased.

I know! And the thing is, she did! She confirmed it twice. Seriously.

The most fun is that I’ve since received three more emails, each one increasing rude and bitchy. I can only assume she’s a teenager.

I haven’t been responding, and that’s making her angrier.

Now it’s kinda fun for me, lol.

I’m with you, Insider. She never should have brought it up tp you, she should’ve just eaten the additional shipping charges, and in the future, CONFIRMED the shipping address BEFORE emailing you a total.

Actually, my real point was wtf, mate? Is it really worth all this sturm und drang? Over $8? Better to maintain a lower blood pressure and not yell at the porkchop all the time.
