So normally I’m not a fan of sporting events, but the Olympics are another matter altogether… I love the Olympics. I will watch them non-stop, every sport, every game and enjoy every minute of it.

We just finished watching the US/Canada gold medal hockey game and now I am bummed. Good job Canada, but damn if I wasn’t completely sad looking at the faces of the US team. Dejection is the only word to describe it. Miller the goalkeeper was so good and yet the puck slipped in—and oh, his posture, so crushed.

Incidentally the announcers are all talking about how this will hopefully make hockey more popular nationwide, and I hate to burst their bubble, but I doubt it. It was awesome, certainly, but it was for a gold medal… in the Olympics. This shit only comes along every four years!

Was definitely an awesome couple of weeks. :)

The Chop received the DVD set of Band of Brothers for his birthday, and we spent most of the weekend watching them and there are two things that really stand out for me:

1) Damian Lewis needs a TV show, desperately. We LOVED him on Life—watched it religiously and were bummed when it was canceled—and he can seriously anchor any TV show. Look at Nathan Fillion—Castle would not still be on the air without him. Lewis is brilliant in BoB.

2) War is hell and neither of us are cut out to be in the military. Particularly any war in a cold climate, where the unit gets stuck in Belgium, in the winter. Most definitely, no.

If you haven’t seen BoB, rent it or buy it or borrow it, it’s amazing.

The Chop and I have been having a very leisurely-ish life of late. Bumming around the house, sleeping in on the weekends, watching a lot of movies—not leaving the couch being the central theme here—and honestly, if this is what marriage is, marriage is easy. Marriage is exactly like living together, except now your mom doesn’t make sad sighing noises at you over the phone and you don’t have to wonder who’s going to entertain you when you’re 70.

It’s the little things.

I think Anthony Bourdain is one of the most entertaining authors and personalities on TV. I loved Kitchen Confidential and we watch No Reservations pretty regularly, so when I heard he was going to be in town, I jumped at the chance to hear him live.

So following a ridiculous amount of sushi (we sat at the counter and one of the sushi chefs was all, are you hungry? uh, yeah, we kinda are, lol), we went and heard him speak.

And let me say, he’s funnier in person than on TV, he curses with every other breath and crazy women are totally in love with him—and they will proposition him in a Q&A session in front of hundreds of people. It was awesome.

I started a new project last week, and it’s exactly the kind of job that I adore—complete freedom to rebuild and redesign an old school HTML site into a database-driven Wordpress site. Over 400 pages and 40 hours later and I think it might be my favorite job to date. And, if I do say so myself, it’s a thing of beauty.

I’m currently driving the Chop crazy talking about it… but the up side for him is that I was so focused this weekend that he watched not one, not two, but FOUR football games. In their entirety.

It was a momentous time for both of us, lol.

It really takes very little to make me happy. Today it was pancakes! (new weekend tradition… the Chop is widening his cooking repertoire. Grilled cheese, pancakes, we’re getting there.), a latte and waking up at noon.
