I have outstanding invoices from companies that are today over a month old. For the one, I just lumped it into next month’s invoice and said, PAY ME NOW. For the other, I said, what exactly is your pay schedule?

And then proceeded to be flabbergasted as I turned in an invoice today (still haven’t gotten paid for May), and I was informed I wouldn’t get paid for June until the end of July. Hello, WTF? The accountant there already doesn’t like me, so this should really be a fun email exchange.

I don’t get it. Someone does work for you, sends you a bill, you pay said bill. Where’s the confusion?

My parents are coming next week, so the insane weekend of cleaning starts tonight (sigh). Fortunately I finally broke down and bought the Furminator, hoping that de-shedding the three furballs would help cut down on vacuuming.

And can I just say: oh my god, where has this thing been all my life?

I’m sure you’ve seen the Furminator ads on TV or online—and I’m here to tell you, it actually does work. It’s freaky.

Did everyone else in the world know that bluejays eat bees? And that they pull down the little hives they try to create under your eaves?

Suddenly they are my favorite bird.

I read a lot of blogs and one thing I’ve noticed? For most of them a) their blog is their job (damn it, I wish mine was!) or b) they are stay-at-home moms (and yes, they have it very hard, but at least their kids eventually go to sleep!).

Ever since the Chop got fired (going on six months now), I’ve taken on more contract work. It’s good in some ways (money), but bad in others (hi, I work 15 hours a day). He does contract work as well, but as he doesn’t have a job that requires eight hours a day, he gets more rest and more playtime (bastard).

Sadly, this means I blog way less. Way, way, way less. And it’s sad, but seriously, do you want to read about how I built a new website today, a coworker got her car repo’d at the office (I KNEW she was sketchy when they hired her, omg) and how Internet Explorer will honestly be the death of me? I didn’t think so. (Well, OK, maybe on the coworker, but she’s a total fruitcake, so I try to ignore her.)

So I’ll read blogs to relax my brain… but writing my own? Less relaxing.

(P.S. Flipping Out is on and quite honestly, it might be the funniest show on TV as Jeff is totally INSANE… it’s making summer work so entertaining!)

The big sport for the Chop is basketball, and seeing as how he came from MN, his favorite player is KG (Kevin Garnett), who, about two minutes ago, finally won his championship ring.

We’re pretty excited over here.

Woot!

Yesterday the Chop and I went kayaking. The sky was clear, the water was smooth and the sun was shining.

Oh, and we forgot to put on sunscreen.

Today the Chop and I are sitting at home, nursing our sunburns. He’s worse off, as he wore shorter shorts and a tank top, while I had on short-sleeves and longer pants (I was afraid I’d get cold). I’m trying to convince him to let me take a picture of his legs, because oh. my. god., lol, but so far he’s being very resistant.

A teacher I had in high school wants to be friends on Facebook.

Does anyone else think that’s just weird?

It was hot yesterday, a high of around 85˚ where we are, but the Chop and I took the dog for a three mile walk to the beach. Somehow, I managed to stumble and roll-walk onto my right foot, successfully spraining the outside of the my ankle. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that until after we tried to take her on another walk today and halfway into it I found myself in agony. I had figured it was just a sore muscle, or perhaps a charley horse… no such luck.

So here we sit, the weather hovering at 90˚, with the only air conditioner upstairs, lol. Living this close to the water, we get a nice breeze, plus we have a fan running, but the indoor temperature reads 85˚ right now and the dog is panting like crazy. Tomorrow the portable air conditioner we want goes on sale (damn you Costco! Couldn’t you have made it on sale a month ago!?), but the weather looks like it will go back to the 70s in a few days, so it will be all for naught!

Except for when the weather once again decides to jump from 50˚ one day to 85˚ the next. Blah.
